Nippon Culture
NIPPON CULTURE has accompanied the film program for sixteen years with workshops, lectures, exhibitions, concerts, and parties. You can look forward to over 40 events related to Japan’s diverse culture this year. Learn the art of the lancing sword combat of the naginata, cook with Japanese miso paste, or try anime dubbing for yourself. Talks with filmmakers, lectures, and discussions complement the film program. After five years, the Tohoku earthquake is still an important issue to us, not only in films. In an installation at Ausstellungsraum Eulengasse, we present a collective work, entitled “A Body in Fukushima”, by butoh dancer Eiko OTAKE and photographer William Johnston. Film critic Dennis Vetter will give a talk about visual representations in Fukushima-related documentaries at the Mousonturm festival center. On Saturday night, Cuushe will enchant you at Mousonturm with electronic music and dream pop. After the concert, band member DJ a u s will play dance beats in Studio 1 while you can relax with cold beer, sake, and Japanese snacks from our bar.
