Striking pictures by photographer William Johnston show dancer and performing artist Eiko OTAKE in the landscape of Fukushima, which is partly uninhabitable since the triple disaster of 2011. By vulnerable gestures as well as by a passionate and fierce dance, she embodies mourning, anger, and remorse. It is a dance against forgetting, full of empathy and reflection, dealing with the consequences of the nuclear disaster. In a video, the photographs are arranged to form a choreography that intertwines images and dance.
